ASUU accuses FG of being apathetic towards strike, demands N200bn for school resumption

The President of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke has once again condemned the federal government's lackadaisical attitude towards the ongoing strike by universities workers.

Osodeke who spoke during a television interview said the government's decision in approving a budget of 4 trillion for fuel subsidy while it ignored the issues of her university education, proves the government is unwilling to address the prolonged strike that has forced students to remain at home and universities campus closed.

He added that the government can easily release N200 billion from the N4 trillion subsidy funds to boost the infrastructure deficit of Nigerian Universities, but rather the government was prioritizing subsidies that can easily be addressed by experts in the university community, over education

The union leader, while calling on the government to seek professional help from lecturers to solve prevailing economic issues, said Nigerian University can provide a refinery within three years, as part of measures to stop the loss incurred on subsidies.
