The meeting scheduled yesterday which was to involve ASUP executives, Joint committee of the National Assembly representing the Federal Government; Ministries of education, finance and labour in a bid to resolve the protracted ASUP strike suffered a setback as the Federal Government’s delegation never turned up.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Uche Chukwumerije expressed his disappointment over lack of willingness on the part of the Federal Government to negotiate with the Leadership of ASUP.
He called on the Lecturers to maintain their struggle in ensuring that the nation’s education sector doesn’t suffer again.
It was learned that ASUP had reduced their demands from 10 to 2 and would have called off the strike only if the federal government delegation has turned up.
