ASUP condemns the killing of a NEKEDEPOLY lecturer by airforce personnel

The Zonal secretariat of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) ZONE D has condemned the killing of Comrade Okonye Steve Nduka, a Computer Science lecturer of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede in Imo State by officials of the Nigerian Air Force, for not identifying himself.

The lecturer was reportedly gunned down at about 7p.m on the 25th of January, 2021 at the Naze area of Owerri, alongside a former student of the institution as they were on their way back from a church program.

ASUP in a statement released via its official website is calling for justice in the extrajudicial killings of its member. The association is also demanding compensation to the families of the deceased and his friend as the families have been deprived of their breadwinners in what it termed ''avoidable and unacceptable'' circumstances.
