Another Strike! SSANU Threatens FG

As if not satisfied with the recently called off ASUU strike, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian
Universities SSANU has threatened to go on strike
over the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement reached with the government by February 29.

The union says they expected the Government about the 35 years service clause in the Universities Miscellaneous Act of 1993.

The Union told the Government that it would be swift to go on strike if its demand to remove the clause from the
amended law was not met.

It should be noted that ASUU had just called off it's strike over a similar issue barely 5 days ago. Most students are even yet to receive their first lectures since then and now a threat to strike by SSANU.

A strike at this stage will totally cripple the countries educational system. We can only hope the Government will be swift to action this time, and finding a lasting solution to end strikes in the educational sector.

Will SSANU go on strike? Only time will tell.

Let's discuss on the issue using the comments boxes below.
