Angry Eksu Students Clash With Okada Riders

Students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), reportedly went on a rampage on Wednesday, to protest recurring motorcycle accident in the student community.

Reports gathered that it all started after a student of the institution was badly injured in a motorcycle accident while the attitude of the rider towards the injured student forced the students to exchange words with the okada riders.

It was also learnt that after the accident, the student staged a peaceful protest tagged ”Operation No Okada”. They marched to major highways in the state, chanting solidarity songs to express their grievances before the security personnel from Iworoko Division dispersed the protesting students.

While trying to settle the case amicably in a meeting which involved the EKSU student union president (Aruson) and the Okada riders, the case took another dimension after the Okada men reportedly attacked the SUG president, a senator at EKSU student union level, identified as senator Hardvize and also left many students with injuries.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PRO), has ordered the motorcyclists to bear the cost of the treatment in regards to those who were injured which they have also agrred to.

He however, noted that normalcy had since been returned to the institution and the environment is calm now.
