The five students of Dowen College Lagos, who were arrested in connection with the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni have reportedly been granted bail in the sum of N1 million each by a Magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos state.
Yaba Chief magistrate, Olatunbosun Adeola, after hearing the bail application from the defendants’ counsel, ordered the defendants to produce two sureties each in like sum with one of the sureties being the parents of the defendants' and must swear an affidavit of compliance.
The court also ordered that the international passports of all the defendants must be submitted to the court, their residence must be verified by the prosecutor and they must stay within 2km of their residence at all times.
Recall that the students who are all minors were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and homicide and remanded in a juvenile home on December 9, 2021, after the death of their schoolmate, Sylvester Oromoni.
