We're looking for the best and most captivating stories and facts that capture the essence of African heritage, tradition and culture, straight from those who lived it. Whether it's a story passed down through generations or a story from your community you are passionate about, we want to hear it all. You'll have the chance to share your story with a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for preserving and celebrating the rich history of Africa. About Afrorama

Afrorama was born out of Ghanaian-French afro-optimist Chloé Bertrand's frustration that online resources to learn about different African countries are limited, poorly-presented or inaccessible. Where resources do exist, they are expensive to access, or tend to focus on the African diaspora and Europeans explorers' experience of the continent. afrorama was launched on social media in April 2021. Aim and Benefits of Afrorama Oral History Competition

  • You’ll have the chance to share your story with a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for preserving and celebrating the rich history of Africa.

Requirements for Afrorama Oral History Competition Qualification

  • Open to afro-optimists aged over 18 years old.
  • Entries should be between 60 and 90 seconds long, and tell a unique story.
  • Entries can be in your language (with a transcript in English or French) will have to be provided).
  • Entries have to follow our submission guidelines.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Afrorama Oral History Competition

Judging Criteria:

  • Entries will be reviewed by our judges, each representing a region of the continent.

Timeline:

  • 25 May 2023: Competition opens
  • 31 August 2023: Competition closes
  • 29 September 2023: Winners announced
