The call is open to all qualified African youth passionate about promoting youth engagement in achieving the “Africa we want”.

Acting on the guidance provided by Ministers of Youth, Culture, and Sport, H.E.  Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the AUC, seeks to appoint the African Union Chairperson’s Special Envoy on Youth 2021 – 2023. The  AU Youth Envoy’s role is to champion youth issues in Africa, which aligns with Aspiration 6 of Agenda 2063, which focuses on youth engagement and empowerment.

About African Union

The African Union (AU) is a continental body consisting of the 55 member states that make up the countries of the African Continent. It was officially launched in 2002 as a successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999). Aim and Benefits of AU Youth Envoy

The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$  96,921.34  (P3 Step 5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 78,461.08 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff of the African Union Commission.

  2. You will improve your current skills and grow professionally by helping find solutions to specific areas you are involved in
  3. You will become part of and connect with an amazing network of like-minded young people from across Africa  from various backgrounds with various skill sets
  4. Upon the successful completion of your full commitment, you will get a letter of recommendation form the OYE for your professional, self-development or educational use

Requirements for AU Youth Envoy Qualification

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Candidates must be citizens of an AU Member State;

2. Candidates must be between the ages of 15-35 for the duration of the appointment;

3. Candidates must have completed at least post-secondary education;

4. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership and advocacy skills on youth development issues at regional and continental levels;

5. Candidates must have demonstrated skills in initiating, facilitating, and sustaining multi-stakeholder dialogues and engagement;

6. Candidates should be proficient in at least one AU official language Arabic, English, French, and Portuguese
