ADSU SUG notice on reduction of transport fares for students

The Student's Union Government Adamawa State University Mubi led by the Executive President, Comrade Micheal Markus Kutte has paid a Courtesy visits to the Adamawa State Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW

The Union appealed to the NURTW Chairman following the Covid19 economical effect on students for a 50% subsidy in price of transportation from Yola to Mubi, that students should only pay the sum of 1000 naira to Mubi on resumption instead of 2000-2500 naira transport fare, only if a student display his or her University I. D card or any valid means of identification.

More so, Comr. Michael also stressed that the Union should ensure that only registered and licenced drivers should be allowed to convey students back to school in other to mitigate unfortunate occurances and casualties, as the union has lost so many of her members on the Yola-Mubi road channel last year 2019.

However, the Chairman commended the effort of the SUG. In his words, he said "this is the first time we honored such type of visit, and we cannot afford, but to consider your applications. This proposed Transportation subsidy was made on the 20th January, 2021 at the Chairman''s Office of NURTW.

All students are encouraged to avoid stopping vehicles by the road side but rather go to the motor park for safety reasons.

Resumption date still remains 2nd February, 2021.We wish all ADSUsites safe journey back to school.
