Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Sunday urged lecturers to abide by their calling and use their gifts and talents to impart on peoples’ lives positively.
Adeboye gave the advice at a special prayer session organized for lecturers at the RCCG National Headquarters in Ebute Meta, Lagos.
“Education is the only way to mould good citizens; therefore, you should endeavor to teach correctly and rightly to change the students’ lives, while changing our educational system and the society at large,” he said.
The cleric urged the people to obey God’s commandments so as to attract His blessings, adding, however, that “excellence does not come in a cheap way.
“If you want to excel in life, you must be ready to work hard; excellence requires that you get to the top and remain there.
“We, the academicians, must be very humble before man and God; we should forget our degrees,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the lecturers, Prof. Jide Osuntokun, a former lecturer at the University of Lagos, thanked Adeboye for organizing the prayer session, adding that it was a wakeup call for all academicians.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for all academicians all over Nigeria to come together to thank God and renew our calling in our chosen profession.
“We hope to go back and impart positively on our students and mould future leaders of our country who will be intellectually and academically sound,” he added. (NAN)
