“And as at today, the College has earned full accreditation to run the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) programme,” he stated.
Going down memory lane, Dr. Akintunde hinted that the matriculation for 2019/2020 academic session is the third PDE one to be held in the College, since the establishment of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research in the College in 1992.
Speaking further, the Provost stated that “the College established the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research in August, 1992, in collaboration with the University of affiliation, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.”

The College’s helmsman explained that the real teaching, research and other academic activities of the PGDE programme were conducted under the College Management of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.
The Provost hinted that the College management engaged the TRCN to start the PDE to produce effective human capacity towards high level manpower that will be useful in classroom teaching, planning, organization, management and policy making at the various levels of education.
He stated that the programme commenced in the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research during the 2016/2017 academic session.
Dr. Akintunde informed the matriculating students that the College reserves the right to withhold the award of Professional Diploma in Education certificate to any student found wanting, charging them to maintain all-round decency throughout their studentship and to also fulfill the Oath of Allegiance they swore to.
The Provost, on behalf of the College management, commended the efforts of the Directorate of PGS&R for the successes recorded so far, as he appreciated the efforts of Ondo State Coordinator of TRCN, Mr. Adesina Akande towards the accreditation of the PDE programme.
In his goodwill message, the TRCN State Coordinator congratulated the matriculants and commended them for choosing the PDE, insisting that the Professional Diploma in Education has the same status with the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education.
Akande added that the graduates of PDE can use the certificates to process admission for their masters and doctoral degrees in any field of education without hindrance.
He went further to say that on the completion of PDE programme, TRCN will conduct a Professional Qualifying Examination Integrated (PQEI) for all those who graduated, and those that pass the examination would be inducted into the teaching profession.
The TRCN State Coordinator, however, underscored the robust relationship between Adeyemi College of Education and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, praying that the cordial relationship would not be strained.
