Professor Ibrahim Garba has been named the new Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
The chairman of the Governing Council of the University while announcing the appointment said that Professor Garba emerged the first out of the 24 professors that contested for the position.
Professor Ibrahim Garba will take over the affairs of the university in April at the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent VC, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha.
Professor Garba had his first and second degrees at ABU between 1980 and 1985. He earned his Ph.D at the University of London in 1993.
He has served as the Vice Chancellor of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil. He has also served as head of department of the ABU’s Department of Geology, among many other positions.
He has to his credit numerous papers in local and international journals, apart from other publications.
