AAUA Pre-Degree Available Courses

The Pre-degree programmes last for one academic session. Each candidate who successfully completes the programme after adequate counselling will choose from the degree programmes listed hereunder. Placements would however depend on performance and available spaces. Candidates must take the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for consideration for admission to the University and must obtain a minimum pass mark as may be agreed upon by the university and the JAMB.

PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE

Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Biology & Fisheries, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics with Electronics and Plant Science & Biotechnology.

PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE EDUCATION

Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science Education, Health Education, Human Kinetics, Integrated Science, Mathematics Education, Physics and Technical Education.

PRE-DEGREE ARTS
Linguistics & Yoruba, Religion & African Culture, Yoruba, Linguistics, Philosophy & Religion Studies.

PRE-DEGREE ARTS EDUCATION
Adult Education, English Education, History Education, Religious Studies Education, and Yoruba Education.

PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE
Geography & Planning Sciences and Psychology

PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION
Geography Education, Social Studies Education, Accounting Education, Economics Education, Political Science Education, Guidance and Counseling, and Educational Management.

PRE-DEGREE AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE
Agricultural Economy, Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Animal Science, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Agronomy and Fisheries.

PRE-DEGREE ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
Architecture, Estate Management, Surveying and Geoinformatics, and Urban and Regional Planning.

AAUA Pre-Degree Admission Requirements

NOTE: Credit passes in English language and Mathematics are required for all courses. 

PRE-DEGREE ARTS AND PRE-DEGREE ARTS EDUCATION

  • A minimum of 5 Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These include Mathematics, English Language, and any of CRK/IRK/Arabic Studies, History/Government. A Credit pass in Literature in English will be required for English Education; a credit pass in Yoruba is required for B.A. Yoruba or any language for B.A. Linguistics.
  • The five Credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics, any of CRK/IRK/Arabic Studies and two subjects from either Arts or Social Sciences for Religion and African Culture.

PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE & PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE EDUCATION

  • A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE 

  • A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include Mathematics, English Language and three other Social Science subjects. Those willing to study GEOGRAPHY AND PLANNING SCIENCE must have Credit in Geography in addition to two other subjects. Those willing to study PURE & APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY must have Credit in Biology. 

PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION

  • A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include Mathematics, English Language and three other Social Science subjects. Those willing to study GEOGRAPHY EDUCATION must have Credit in Geography in addition to two other subjects.

PRE-DEGREE AGRICULTURE 

  • A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science and Physics.  

NOTE: (a) Credit pass in Economics is required for Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with at least a pass in Physics, (b) Credit pass in Agric Science is acceptable for Agronomy, Fisheries & Aquaculture, Animal Science, and Forestry & Wildlife Management with at least a pass in Biology.

PRE-DEGREE ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT

  • PRE-DEGREE ARCHITECTURE: A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Biology, Technical drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction, Land Surveying.
  • PRE-DEGREE ESTATE MANAGEMENT: A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two from Chemistry, Biology/Agric Sci, Commerce, Geography, Technical Drawing. 
  • PRE-DEGREE SURVEYING AND GEOINFORMATICS: A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Biology/Agric Sci., Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics. 
  • PRE-DEGREE URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING: A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO, NABTEB or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agric Sci., Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Government, and Economics.
