AAU disclaimer notice on a news report making rounds on social media

The Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has released a disclaimer Notice to the General public on the frivolous and false statement by "ThisdayLive news"

The announcement read thus;

"The attention of the University Management has been drawn to a frivolous, mischievous, false, and highly embarrassing post making the rounds on social media.

The publication has the heading Corruption: AAU VC, Council Chairman trade Accusations – THISDAY LIVE….www.google.com.

A publication under this heading was earlier published in This Day Newspaper. A rejoinder has already been published by the same ThisDay newspaper on Friday, October 9th, 2020 to the effect that AAU VC and Chairman of Council are not at loggerheads as reported.

However, an unscrupulous person has gone ahead to include five paragraphs of totally untrue matter and posted on social media as if they were published by ThisDay. The University Management hereby refutes this publication as frivolous, mischievous, and totally false.

1. Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma is not set to remove its Vice-Chancellor over fraud. The Vice-Chancellor is not involved in any fraud rather the vice Chancellor has achieved massive development and repositioning for which he is being applauded.

 2. The university Council has not suspended anybody in recent times.

3. The University does not advertise names of staff facing any disciplinary committee and therefore the information is totally incorrect.

4. Neither the Executive Governor nor the Governing Council has issued Prof. Onimawo any queries as reported. A visitation panel has been set up by the Executive Governor and the terms of reference cover a wide range of issues aimed at positioning the University to cope and maintain first-class standard, after the COVID-19.

The setting up of the visitation panel has nothing to do with the resumption for academic work, after COVID 19 lockdown. As soon as the appropriate supervising bodies give the go-ahead, the school will resume, and this is expected to happen very soon.

The University Community and the general public are hereby advised to disregard this virulent false and embarrassing post on social media.

Mischief makers, detractors, and enemies of the University must realize that their campaign of calumny against the University has failed. AAU, Ekpoma remains a spectacular success story and nothing can change all the evidence of dramatic progress and development in the past four years."
