94 Students missing after Boko Haram attack in Yobe

On Monday, 19th February,  Suspected Boko Haram members launched an attack on Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School at Dapchi town in Bursari local government area of Yobe state. According to information gathered, they stormed the village around 6:52pm and began shooting and setting off explosives.

The girls and the teachers in the boarding house were able to escape before the attackers got into the school, they reportedly ran into the bush when they heard the gunshots of the sect members, it was assumed that no one was abducted.

Meanwhile, it was reported on Tuesday, that 94 students were discovered missing after a headcount was conducted. Hence, the Yobe State Government directed immediate closure of the school.

However, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Muhammed Alami, reportedly said there was no abduction of any student, he further said, the closure of the school was due to food items stolen from the school by the suspected Boko Haram members.
