Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, UNIZIK revealed that 88 post UTME candidates are being prosecuted, other 400 on the run.
During the last post UTME conducted by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), about 88 candidates were arrested by the university and handed over to the police for alleged impersonation. The arrested 88 are being prosecuted in Anambra State.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, stated this, on Monday June 1, 2015 while briefing journalists on achievements of his administration within one year in office.
He said the candidates were arrested by the university and handed over to the police that were now prosecuting them, adding that about 400 candidates who had come to impersonate during the examination were on the run.
“We had to track down the impersonators because we have upgraded our admission process. We have digitized almost everything by introducing biometric machine which we will continue to bring sanity not only in our admission process but in controlling our students,” he said.

Ahaneku further stated that the university had not increased school fees for students and did not intend to do so, adding that the issue of hostel accommodation was being tackled headlong.
