At least 50, 000 candidates have so far applied for the 2013/2014 post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test in the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos.
The Head of the institution’s Public Relations Unit, Mr Adekunle Adams, gave the figure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday.
Adams said that the application would end on August 30, disclosing that the test would hold on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.
“Twenty venues within the institution have been mapped out for the test; the test will be in two sessions – morning and afternoon, ‘’ he said.
He told NAN that a session would last for an hour.
“Measures have been put in place for security of lives and property,“ he said.
Adams urged candidates to observe all rules and regulations guiding the test.
“Candidates should shun any act that can disqualify them. We shall maintain discipline and academic excellence which we are known for, “ Adams said.
He could not say how many candidates would be absorbed by the college but told NAN that the number would be higher due to increased facilities and number of courses.
“The National Board for Technical Education has approved more courses this session; this will increase the number of intakes compared to the number absorbed last session, “ he added.
Adams said that the post UTME would be a combination of the new examination mode – Computer-Based Test (CBT) – and the usual Paper and Pencil Test (PPT).
He said that the introduction of CBT was in line with technological advancement. (NAN)
