The Smart Campus Campaign pioneered by 3RT Solutions will, this year, be engaging all stakeholders in Nigeria’s educational sector to ensure increased usage of contemporary technologies in higher institutions.
The firm said it would provide an opportunity for stakeholders such as policy advisors, regulators, administrators, lecturers, students, telecoms and technology services providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and the general public, to rub minds towards dealing with challenges encountered in the tertiary arm of the education sector.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the Managing Director, 3RT Solutions, Mr. Ayodele Olanlokun, said there was the need for investors and technology service providers to present areas of investment in the sector and develop business models that would sustain technology deployments, especially in higher institutions.
He, therefore, said the firm was also committed to ensuring increased Web presence of institutions, with qualitative contents.
According to him, the need to energise institutions to develop and imbibe best practices and global learning tools cannot be overemphasised.
“With this, institutions will be able to bridge the gap between their visions and realities, and be able to develop end-to-end solutions that will drive their visions,” he stressed.
Also commenting, the Project Co-ordinator, Mr. Afolabi Oni, said the Smart Campus initiative was focused on infrastructure, enterprise, teaching and learning.
Being the second edition of the annual educational technology conference, he said a number of companies with value-added solutions for educational institutions will be available to showcase the current enterprise technology solutions (software and hardware) directly to institutions from OEMs, technology providers, telecoms operators and several global technology players
The event, he added, had been scheduled for November 14 and 15 in Lagos.
Oni said, “Our educational systems, standards and infrastructure are generally behind their counterparts globally, in terms of technology adoption and usage. The major drivers which can help leapfrog our institutions are scalable, mobile and responsive broadband networks, the bed rock of a smart campus.”
