An Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Msgr. Christopher Ajala, revealed that three more universities of the Church would soon be opened across Nigeria.
They are: Augustine University, Epe, Lagos, Jesuit University, Ogbere, Ogun, and a Jesuit varsity in Abuja.
The Administrator spoke about these plans at the annual news conference of the Abeokuta and Ota Dioceses and 60th anniversary of the St. Bernadette Schools, in Abeokuta, on January 21, 2014, Tuesday.
He assured that the Augustine University, which is just 15 minutes drive from Ijebu-Ode, would commence academic activities by September 2014.
"All structures are in place; they not just temporary, they are permanent structures. Last week, we were told by the NUC that academic activities can commence this year.
"We also have the Jesuit University at Ogbere, in Remo area of Ogun and another one in Abuja, "Msgr. Christopher Ajala said.
He further urged all the tiers of the government to partner with the church to revamp education in the country.
"We reiterate the promise of Governor Ibikunle Amosun to return the missionary schools upon completion of the state model schools.
"We equally recommend the creation of more technical and vocational schools for our youths who cannot cope with the stress of normal High School syllabus.
"People of this kind can be trained in areas of craftsmanship and vocational jobs. We pledge our openness to partner with government towards realizing this goal,"the Administrator said.
