26-year-old AAUA student arraigned over school fee fraud

A 300-level Mass Communication undergraduate of the Adekunle Ajasin, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State for allegedly defrauding five people of N486,000.

The 26-year-old student identified as Ayodeji Fadare, who is also a cybercafe operator was said to have fraudulently collected the money from the victims under the pretence of helping them to pay the school fees of their children last year in the Alagbaka area of Akure.

He was arraigned on a twelve-count charge of fraud said to have contravened Sections 418, 419, 383, 390 (9), 465, 467 and 338 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Fadare was granted bail by the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunnus in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, and reside within the court’s jurisdiction. The sureties were also instructed to produce three years tax clearance certificate as well as provide two recent passport photographs.

The case was subsequently adjourned till January 28, 2022, for hearing.
