2013 UTME Will Hold As Earlier Scheduled! -JAMB

If you have been thinking that JAMB will extend date for the 2013 UTME as usual, then you must have to re-think!

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it would still conduct the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled at the end of the month.

The board was reacting to reports that the Stephen Oronsaye’s white paper had recommended the agency scrap the examinations.

A statement by JAMB’s spokesman Fabian Benjamin said the process of scrapping UTME would “go through due process before becoming a law.” If you missed our previous publication on this, read FG to stop UTME, NECO, others.

Benjamin said the board was a responsible and responsive organization not aversed to innovation, changes and government policies skewed to improve the lot of the sector.

He however said the 2013 UTME slated for April 27 would take place as scheduled and dates for the computer based testing will be communicated to candidates soon.

National Examination Council (NECO), the second agency under the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) penciled for scrapping according to the white paper, refused to comment on the matter.

When Newsmen put a call through to the Registrar of NECO Professor Promise Okpala, he responded and said he was in a meeting and unavailable to speak.
