20 prison inmates set to write UTME examination

The Spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Lagos State Command, Mr. Rotimi Oladokun, has disclosed that no fewer than 20 prison inmates from Ikoyi prison have indicated interest to sit for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), slated to begin on June 5.

Oladokun made the disclosure on Friday, April, 23 in Lagos, while addressing newsmen. The inmates indicated interest to further their education, after going through several reform programs.

Mr. Oladokun further revealed that the new facility where the inmates would write the examination has reportedly reached 80 percent completion, and the computers and other items needed would be fixed soon. Teachers who are meant to tutor the inmates on various subjects have also been contracted.

He, however, appealed for more equipment to boost inmates’ interest in furthering their education.
