Australian Government awards 19 Nigerian candidates scholarship to do their Masters in the Country. A new round of Australia Scholarship Awards would open for applications in September, 2014.
Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Jonathan Richardson has disclosed that 19 Nigerian candidates have been selected for scholarship award to do their Masters in his country in 2015.
The envoy who disclosed this at the launch of the North West and North East zones of the Australian Institutions Alumni Association in Kaduna, said between 2010 and 2014, more than 200 scholarhip awards had been granted Nigerian students, including 86 for postgraduate studies by the Australian government.

He described the Australian scholarship awards as offering both long and short term study and professional development opportunities to citizens from developing countries around the world, which he said was aimed at providing enhanced leadership, knowledge and technical skills to partner governments, tertiary institutions and strategic organizations driving sustainable development.
Speaking on the award programme, Richardson who was represented by the third secretary of the commission in Nigeria Mr. Matthew Mechan further disclosed that a total of 923 Nigerian students were enrolled in Australian universities and vocational education programmes by the end of May 2014, nearly doubling the number in 2013.
“We want to encourage Nigerians interested in studying abroad to consider Australia as an option, given the strong record and high quality of our universities and tertiary institutions,” he stated, , adding that a new round of Australia Awards would open for applications in September, 2014.
