180 JAMB University Cut-Off is only the minimum, not a must!

Following the release of Unilag's 2014/2015 Post-UTME details with a cut-off of 200 set by the institution, candidates who applied for the institution and other major institutions are beginning to lament, stating that JAMB set a cut-off of 180 and why would institutions not obey?

Well the real situation is that JAMB actually set 180 as the MINIMUM score required for entry into the University and 150 as MINIMUM score required for entry into polytechnics and colleges of education.

This is done to maintain a standard in the country's educational system. It however, does not mean that every Institution must abide by the minimum cut-off. Rather, they must not go below the minimum cut-off.

Now that you've understood what the JAMB cut-off means, don't expect every major institution to abide by the minimum cut-off because they very well below they have a higher standard keep that other institutions.
