Eighteen-year-old, Chinasa Nweze, a former student of Lagoon School, Lekki, Lagos State, was on Tuesday, March 15 crowned as the overall best candidate in the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Miss Nweze had aced all her subjects, including Mathematics and English Language to beat millions of candidates that sat for the examination in Nigeria and five other West African countries. She received the award at the 70th Annual meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) held in Abuja, which had in attendance, Nigeria's Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, and other top government functionaries from four other member countries.
The second position in West Africa went to a Ghanaian student, Asante Brako, a former student of Presbyterian Boy’s Senior High School, Legon-Accra, Ghana who also recorded eight A's in the school exam.
Another 18-year-old Nigerian, Edeani Godswill, obtained eight As in the May/June 2021 WASSCE to cling unto the third position.
